Every little princess wants to look not only elegant and beautiful, but also unique. Even if she is in a school uniform, which a priori should be strict. How to sew a tie for a girl for school so that it not only matches the accepted dress code, but also emphasizes the individuality of the young lady? Let's try to figure it out in accordance with the latest fashion trends.

We sew from fabric

How to make a man's bow tie with your own hands?

In order to sew this accessory, you will need:

  • pattern: three pieces of any fabric of your choice, sizes 6x10 cm, 20x15 cm, 30.5x15 cm;
  • doublerin or non-woven fabric, 2 pieces 30.5x15 cm and 20x15 cm;
  • threads, needle;
  • iron;
  • scissors.

The composition of the base material can be anything, it doesn’t matter. If you decide to sew a man’s bow tie yourself, with your own hands, then you can give preference to synthetics or cotton.

In order for the product to keep its shape, doublerin or interlining is used - they allow the butterfly to maintain a presentable appearance.

So let's get started!

  1. Place the interlining into two large pieces, moisten it a little and iron it through a thin cloth or gauze. The pieces must stick together well so that they do not move even a millimeter. It’s easy to check the strength: in a corner, try to separate the materials from each other. If you succeed, iron again, heating the entire surface for 2-3 seconds;
  2. Fold the pieces in half with the non-woven layer facing up. Carefully sew the piece, retreating 3 mm from the edge. Do not forget to secure the seam so that the butterfly does not “crawl”. Repeat the same steps with other pieces;
  3. Turn the garment right side out and iron. If you want the product to have smooth lines, you can leave it without ironing. To try on the width and size, fold the butterfly into three parts. If you are happy with everything, sew with a zigzag stitch;
  4. To decorate a one-color butterfly, select a thread of a contrasting color and sew along the front side, for example, in the middle or slightly higher;
  5. Place the smaller piece with the wrong side to the front of the main layer and sew. To hide the seams, cover them with a small piece;
  6. A man's bow tie, sewn from fabric with his own hands, with thin lines, looks neat and elegant. But a tie with a thick “core” decorated with buttons will look no less advantageous. It is better to sew with a zigzag seam. Squeeze gently to give the product the desired shape. Secure with thread and needle.

The butterfly can be decorated with beads, buttons or left without decoration - it will still be stylish and original. To hold the tie securely, pin a small pin on the back side.

From satin ribbon

A purchased product will never be as exclusive as a men's bow tie made by hand.

To sew a tie, you will need two ribbons:

  • wide (6 cm) and thin (1 cm);
  • as well as thread, needle, scissors;
  • clear varnish;
  • special hooks.
  1. Cut the wide ribbon so that one part is slightly wider than four fingers - it can be used as a pattern for a man's bow tie. Take one ribbon and sew stitches in the middle with thread. Pull it so that you get a bow and wrap it with thread. Make the second bow in the same way. Glue them together and pass a thread through them;
  2. Glue glue stones to the edges of the smaller bow - two rows of different colors. Apply a layer of clear varnish on top and wait 15 minutes for it to dry thoroughly;
  3. Attach special hooks to a thin satin ribbon. Put on the slider and secure the end of the ribbon in it on the same side. This is necessary in order to easily change the size of the bow tie. The hook is attached on the other side;
  4. Connect the base to the butterflies using a ribbon of the same color and sew it at the back. You can make these ties in different colors to make them easier to combine with wardrobe items, or you can present them as a souvenir.

It's so easy to make a man's bow tie from satin ribbon or fabric with your own hands. Your man will wear such an accessory with pleasure, proud that you sewed it especially for him.

Handmade items have become very popular lately, and tie brooches are no exception. It's stylish, sophisticated, and quite easy to make if you follow the instructions in our tutorial. This accessory perfectly complements a strict and sometimes boring school uniform. Make a tie brooch, which will definitely make the uniform attractive and formal, because it will be made by yourself. By the way, such decoration will also be necessary if the child’s educational process is connected with high art in a music or choreographic school. This decoration is applicable not only to school uniforms and children's clothing, but also to adult wardrobes. Business ladies can wear this type of jewelry with a formal suit, because it will wonderfully complement trousers, as well as a white blouse paired with a jacket.

A tie brooch can also be made using the kanzashi technique, or using its elements. Kanzashi is a traditional hair decoration that came to us from Japan, where it is widely popular and has a large number of varieties. Basically, this is a decoration made of ribbons in the shape of butterflies, flowers, and stars.

Unlike the Japanese, for us this is just a newfangled type of needlework, for the manufacture of which satin ribbons are most often used. And the most popular product in this technique is all kinds of flowers, which are used to decorate hairpins, headbands, elastic bands, and brooches.

Step-by-step instruction

How to sew a tie for a girl for school? There is no need for a pattern, since the product is very simple in design. But the sizes may vary depending on what kind of bow tie you ultimately want.

  1. From the fabric you need to cut out a rectangle measuring 21 x 12.5 cm.
  2. Fold it in half along the long side.
  3. Machine sew along the edge.
  4. It is necessary to retreat approximately 5-7 mm from the edge, and the thinner the selected fabric, the larger the indentation should be.
  5. Turn the resulting “tube” out so as to place the seam in the middle. Iron it with an iron and insert a sealant inside.
  6. Turn the workpiece seam side down. The prepared lace should be carefully laid out on top. Next, machine sew it along the transverse edges.
  7. Fold the workpiece in half so that the front side is on the inside. Connect the narrow sections by sewing them on a typewriter.
  8. Now you can turn the product right side out. The seam should be at the bottom, exactly in the center.
  9. The workpiece in the middle must be tied with a strong thread (for example, floss or iris).
  10. Form a neat jumper from the lace and secure it into a ring from the wrong side.
  11. If the tie is black, the jumper can be made from braid or thick black fabric, such as denim. If the tie is a light shade, you can omit the braid (it will be more subtle).
  12. The edges of the denim should be ironed along the long sides towards the center. A braid is sewn on top.
  13. Along the short sections you need to sew a jumper on a machine. Fold the right side inward. A fine zigzag stitch is suitable for finishing the seam. Turn it inside out so that the seam is on the inside.
  14. Cut the elastic to the required length and insert it under the jumper from the wrong side. The edges of the elastic are ground down by hand.

The work is finished. The bow tie is ready!

Now you know how to sew a tie for a girl for school. The main thing is to be patient and carry out all stages of work on the accessory carefully.

Making a tie-brooch with your own hands in a step-by-step master class

It will be quite easy to make a tie brooch with your own hands if you carefully follow our master class. We will need inexpensive materials; our tie will be made from ribbons that you may find in your box of needlework. And to eliminate any ambiguity, photos and videos on the topic are attached.

Our future masterpiece will consist of two parts: upper and lower. Required materials for the top:

  • You need to take a black grosgrain ribbon four centimeters wide. You can also take a satin ribbon of the same width, but it does not hold its shape as well as a grosgrain ribbon. And cut a few strips:

30 cm, 25 cm, and 15 cm, 1 strip each, 28 cm, 2 strips

  • You also need to cut white lace two centimeters wide: 28 cm, 2 fragments, and 25 cm, 1 fragment.
  • One element for decorating our brooch. It could be a beautiful button, an unusual rhinestone or a half-bead with a diameter of about one centimeter.
  • A pin, or a special blank for a brooch. You can also make our brooch with an elastic band. Then you need to purchase an elastic band, matched to the color of the product and a set of fasteners, for the convenience of frequent use.
  • A small piece of fabric to match the product, for attaching a pin. It can be either felt or foamiran.

Necessary materials for making the lower part of the brooch:

  • We cut off a few more strips of black four-centimeter grosgrain ribbon: 13 cm, 6 strips, 15 cm, 3 strips, and 26 cm, 1 strip.
  • And for white lace, as for the upper part, you will need three strips 15 cm long.
  • Glue gun

Men's butterflies made of satin ribbons

A bow tie has long become an integral attribute of a stylish male look. This accessory can increasingly be seen on girls, as well as younger boys. To look beautiful and elegant, you don’t have to go to the store. We suggest making a butterfly from satin ribbons with your own hands.

To make such a tie yourself, you need to prepare two ribbons about a meter long (1 and 4 cm wide), threads, matches, scissors, a needle, special hooks and glue.

Let's start modeling a tie from ribbons using the kanzashi technique

With the help of our master class, anyone can make a tie brooch; it is important to follow the instructions and not break the sequence, and everything will work out.

We make blanks for the lower part:

  1. First you need to make the lower part of the tie, which will serve as the basis for the brooch. To do this, we will use pre-cut fragments of grosgrain ribbon and lace for the lower part of the product.
  2. We take a cut strip of 26 cm and bend it, connecting both edges to form a loop.
  3. We glue the connected edges with hot glue using a gun, and leave the bend of the tape rounded, it does not need to be ironed.
  4. Next, take six strips of 13 cm each and repeat the steps. We form small loops from them, which also need to be glued at the edges and left voluminous.
  5. Now you need to take three strips of ribbon, 15cm each, and three pieces of lace, also 15cm each. Place the lace on the ribbons strictly in the center, to avoid distortions of the lace, put marks on the ribbon, and glue everything with the same glue.
  6. We turn the resulting black and white stripes into loops and glue them, like all the previous ones.

Assembling the lower part:

  1. Now comes the fun part. You need to take a loop that comes from a 26cm long ribbon, they are the longest, and it will be the basis for the lower part.
  2. You need to carefully glue two small black loops to the base at the bottom at the fold, and move them slightly away from the center, maintaining symmetry.
  3. Slightly above the first black loops, in the middle of the base, glue a loop with lace.
  4. Glue two black loops again and move them apart. Add a loop with lace in the center.
  5. We repeat this action again. There should be a total of nine loops on the base, three of which have lace in the center. The lower part of the brooch is ready.

We make blanks and assemble the upper part:

  1. The top part of the future decoration will have the shape of a bow, so let's make it. To do this, you need to glue two strips of black ribbon 28 cm, with lace in the center, of the same length and one strip of 25 cm, with lace of the corresponding length. We did this operation when making loops for the lower part.
  2. We connect the ends of the tape so that a circle is formed, glue it together, and scroll the seam back to the center. Having flattened the circle, we get three bow blanks.
  3. We assemble the upper part of the brooch from the resulting blanks. We glue two blanks obtained from 28cm strips crosswise and connect them to the remaining part, placing it horizontally on top.
  4. Then you need to make another bow from a 15cm piece of black ribbon, and place it in the center on top of all the previous parts.

Assembling the tie brooch:

  1. Turn the resulting bow face down and glue the bottom of the tie to its center.
  2. Be sure to hide the junction of the top and bottom with a 28cm black ribbon tied into a bow.

We make the mount:

  1. We attach a pin or other chosen fastening option to the back of the product using a black square, in our case made of felt. You should check the functionality of the pin to ensure that it is not jammed and moves freely.

Bringing beauty:

  1. It's time for decoration. We turn the tie brooch over and secure our decoration in the center with glue. There are no restrictions here, it all depends on your taste, preferences, and purpose of the finished product.

A stylish and sophisticated, elegant and ceremonial decoration with delicate lace made from ribbons is ready.

As you can see, making a tie brooch is not difficult if you carefully follow all the points in our master class.
