How to sew a dress for autumn with a one-piece sleeve: a pattern with a description of sewing

Creating a children's costume for a matinee involves a boundless flight of imagination. This could be a costume event, or it could be a whole performance, where each child has his own role.

In children's fairy tales performed on stage, there is often the role of Oak.

Of course, you can purchase a ready-made suit, but this option has obvious disadvantages. Cheap suits on sale are usually of low quality, but for a good one you will have to pay a considerable amount.

To avoid this, you can make such a costume yourself. It will turn out to be original and suitable for the child in all respects. In addition, both parent and child participate in the creation process, which ensures joint creative time.

DIY "Beauty Autumn" costume for a matinee

A beautiful and suitable option for a skirt is a tutu skirt. This costume detail can be made with your own hands from yellow, brown and orange mesh fabric and elastic. First, you need to cut the fabric into vertical strips, which will need to be tied to an elastic band. It is desirable that the colors of the stripes alternate. The length of the strip should be approximately sixty centimeters. Width - five.

Next, take the elastic band and wrap it around the girl’s hips and tie it with a knot. There is no need to stretch it much. The resulting elastic ring can be pulled over the chair legs to make it convenient to tie the fabric. We take pieces of fabric and tie their ends with knots with an elastic band. The thicker the stripes, the fuller the skirt will be.

The top can be made from elastic fabric in brown, orange or yellow. We measure the distance from the top of the chest to the girl’s hips. This will be the width of the fabric. To find out the length, you should measure the circumference of your hips without stretching the fabric and add three centimeters to it.

Cut out the resulting rectangle from the fabric and sew it on the side. The straps can be made from fabric of the same or the above color. Exactly cut out two strips, two wide and ten centimeters long, sew them to the inside of the top.

Artisan

The detail that completes the look is an unusual crown. Its base will be a regular elastic band. We wrap it around the girl’s head and tie it with a couple of knots. To decorate the crown, you need to create autumn leaves and ripe fruits from colored paper. You can draw them on white paper, color them and cut them out. They should be attached with good glue.

You can decorate a tutu skirt and top with the same leaves and fruits. If you are worried that the decor will fall off during the matinee, you can sew it on.

Additional attributes

Acorns

No oak tree is complete without acorns. They can decorate a suit. The easiest way is to make acorns from cardboard, then they can be glued into the “foliage” . If the costume includes a belt, then a bunch of rag or cardboard acorns will be the best decoration.

Staff

You can also make a staff in the shape of a young oak tree. To do this, you will need a piece of driftwood of the appropriate size, cleared of dust and other debris. It should be covered with scraps of green fabric (it is also advisable to cut out imitation foliage), and an acorn should be secured on top.

If time and perseverance permit, you can cover the entire trunk of the driftwood with real acorns . It is better to leave this to the child himself. His task will be to collect the required number of acorns during a walk, and then carefully, as if in a labor lesson, paste over his future staff.

Advice . For a strong fixation, the driftwood must first be thoroughly cleaned of dust and other contaminants. It is also advisable to coat it with clear varnish.

Wreath

For complete realism, the wreath can be woven from real branches, for example, willow or birch . Then they need to be decorated with decorative foliage, or they can be left as is.

bird's Nest

If a child gets the role of the Master of the Forest in a play, then an interesting solution would be to create a bird's nest on his head or shoulder. It can be woven from twigs or straw, knitted from wool, or purchased as a ready-made decorative element for the home.

Tip : If your child has rather long hair, you can pin it up with hairpins with butterflies, dragonflies, bees and other forest creatures.

Thus, creating an oak costume is within the power of every parent, even if he is not used to doing needlework. Many elements can be completed by the child himself, therefore, the result is full-fledged team work.

The complexity of the costume details depends on skill and diligence. The simplest costume, taking into account the availability of a ready-made base, will take no more than an hour. But with a creative approach and the desire to add realism, the work can take a whole day.

In any case, the result will be a self-created individual image, to which the child himself had a hand. A photo in a suit will be a wonderful reminder of the holiday.

A simple DIY version of the Autumn carnival costume

Instead of a top and skirt, you can make a carnival version of a cape. The most suitable fabric option for it is flowing yellow satin. We cut a circle out of a large piece of fabric and make a hole in the middle so that the head can fit into it. The edge of the circle can be covered with red, brown or green ribbon. Do not forget that under the cape you must wear a top and a skirt of a suitable color.

The use of natural materials for decoration looks very impressive. Therefore, if the time of year allows, you can attach natural leaves to the cape.

Another acceptable spectacular detail is rowan or rosehip beads. It’s easy to create them - string the berries onto a thread using a needle and tie the resulting beads into two knots.

There are many costume options. But to choose the right option, decide the following questions:

By choosing one option for each question, it will be easier for you to understand your preferences. The choice also depends on the age of the child. Recommendations for choosing fabrics and accessoriesFor the pullover and trousers you will need:
brown fabric with a smooth surface (for example, lamé or jersey), a piece of green fabric for finishing, elastic tape (elastic band), thin padding polyester.

For the cape and beret you will need:

- either beige-brown boucle knitwear, - or beige-brown boucle yarn (for those who knit), - or beige-brown fabric with a loose texture.
Description of work Shorts.
Shorts are sewn using any suitable pattern (for example, pajama pants) from a fashion magazine. From the remnants of green fabric, parts (one of which is reinforced with a non-woven interlining) of oak leaves are cut (see motif below). The parts are folded in pairs and processed along the edges with a narrow zigzag stitch. The bottom of the shorts is decorated with leaves. Larger leaves are used for decoration (see sketch) and to decorate the beret.

Pullover.

A simple pullover is sewn using any suitable pattern from a fashion magazine. The bottom of the shelf and back is cut out a little wider to allow for gathering. The lower part of the shelf and back (from the armpit to the bottom) is duplicated with thin padding polyester. There is a drawstring along the bottom into which an elastic band is inserted. When putting it on, the elastic is folded inward so that it is not visible.

Cape.

1st option. A circle is cut out of knitted fabric (in appearance the fabric should resemble the color of an acorn cap) with a hole for putting it on over the head. The bottom is rolled up and an elastic band is inserted into the hem. A small stand-up collar is sewn to the neckline. 2nd option. The cape is knitted in the round from the neckline out of loose yarn. If you don’t have bouclé yarn, you can use regular yarn and knit it with a “bump” pattern. 3rd option. A circle is cut out of loose fabric with a hole for putting it on over the head. The bottom is rolled up and an elastic band is inserted into the hem. A small stand-up collar is sewn to the neckline. Next, small squares are cut out from the remaining fabric (recommended size is 6x6 cm, but 8x8 cm is also possible). The square is folded in four (see diagram), the resulting diamond, the open sides of which are directed upward, is sewn to the cape. Only the top corner is grabbed! Diamonds are sewn in layers, starting from the bottom. The work is painstaking, but the effect will be amazing!

Headdress

The beret is sewn or knitted depending on the version of the cape. If the 3rd option was used, then the beret is decorated in the same way. A ponytail is sewn (knitted) onto the top of the head. An oak leaf is attached to the tail.

Slippers.

Ordinary house slippers are trimmed with knitwear or tied. The slippers are decorated with ties, the ends of which are decorated with real or knitted acorns.

Costume ideas for the autumn ball

Soon matinees dedicated to autumn will begin in all kindergartens and primary schoolchildren. We've come up with ideas for some costumes and are eager to share them with you.

Costumes for girls

So let's start with the girls. Traditionally, it is easier and faster to make a suit on them. The undoubted hit of the season is the use of fluffy tulle skirts (tutu skirt) in costumes. This is a win-win and universal option.

Such a skirt can be made from multi-colored strips of fabric or be plain, decorated with leaves, flowers, acorns, pine cones, and chestnuts. Tulle can be easily painted with paints (ordinary gouache), creating spectacular colorful feathers.

In addition, you will not find a girl who would refuse to wear such a fluffy skirt.

note

The next attribute of a beautiful autumn costume is wings. They can look like dragonflies, and then the costume will be an autumn forest fairy. The wings can be like those of a butterfly, like those of a bee. The most important thing is that the base - wings on a frame - can be purchased at any gift store. And decorating them to match your costume with the help of paints, beads, leaves, and ribbons is very easy and simple.

Also, don’t forget about accessories. Using a regular headband, silicone glue and autumn attributes, you can create beautiful headdresses.

Using these three simple ideas, you can make a huge number of costumes for girls: pumpkin, fairy, autumn, witch, fox, flower, etc.

Processing the cape of a New Year's costume for a girl:

  1. Cut strips of suede
  2. Connect the strips
  3. Finish the cut of the cape with an edge stitch.
  4. Sew loops from white braid.
  5. Cut out leaves from dark green fabric according to the template.
  6. Glue the strips and leaves with Moment glue and secure with tape

At the design stage, you can use the pattern of the base of the set-in sleeve and, according to your own standards, perform modeling in accordance with the sketch (Fig. 3).

What can you use to make an autumn dress for a girl?

The most common options for autumn dresses are tulle and velvet. The first is used for children's lush options. The second is for the calmer and nobler ones.

On a note! When using tulle as the main material, be sure to use a soft cotton lining - tulle is itchy.

However, not only these materials can be used. Satin or rayon, chiffon, organza, stretch and regular cotton fabric are also common.

For the most unusual options, improvised means are used: balloons, plastic bags, real leaves and much more. However, these materials are applicable for relevant competitions; at an ordinary autumn festival it is better to get by with a beautiful fabric.
