Fashionable backpacks for girls: 70+ options for fashionistas and schoolgirls

What you need to make your own backpack

Before you begin the main stage of work, you should thoroughly think through the future image and purchase all the necessary tools and materials for implementation. Most of the tools are available to any housewife at hand; you only need to purchase a sewing base. Here is a list of what you will need.

  • Natural leather or its substitutes . If you have old leather products that you no longer use, you can use them as the main material.
  • Fabric for lining . You can also use jacket lining material.
  • Sewing machine with a set of needles and threads for sewing.
  • Glue.
  • Scissors and a stationery knife for cutting leather and fabric.
  • Graph paper and a ruler for creating a workpiece pattern.
  • A pencil, pen or felt-tip pen with a set of pins for marking and securing the boundaries of stitching material.

ADVICE! This is an approximate list of necessary things. If you want to further decorate the backpack, purchase decorative elements.

For convenience, buy all the necessary things in advance and take extra material.

How to sew a summer backpack bag from fabric

≡ August 18, 2011 · Category: Sewing
A A A

I recently made myself a summer bag.

One of my friends liked the bag, and she asked me to sew something similar for her, but in the form of a backpack, and always with a handle. This woman works as a tour guide and takes tourists to the sights of our coast.

I fulfilled her order - a bag - a summer backpack made of fabric. Fabrics used: linen and cotton from Ikea.

While I was looking for a pattern, I looked through many pages and settled on this pattern from a foreign magazine. I already thought of the valve and handle myself.

The backpack panel is pulled together with a cord in the drawstring.

This is how it is in a tight state.

Holes for the cord - of course, it would be necessary to punch out blocks and eyelets, but I don’t have the necessary equipment for this. I made the slotted loops on a machine.

Behind:

My daughter was running past, I stopped her and asked her to give me the back for a photo shoot of a summer fabric backpack.

By the way, here is another light summer backpack of mine for a girl.

The backpack is unlined, the inside fabric is combined with padding polyester,

and I closed the seams from the inside by sewing on white knitted store-bought tape:

Pocket inside. I also covered the seam connecting the backpack panels with tape.

The bottom was reinforced with dense dublin. Then I put a thick plastic film on it for rigidity (I read about this somewhere on the net). On top there is padding polyester and I quilted the entire “sandwich” together. At the corners of the bottom there are patches and 2 half rings for connecting to belts.

The flap has Velcro, and again, to stabilize the shape, there is a contrasting piping.

To prevent the flap from looking empty, I tried to sew on embroidery. This is what happened

I will make a backpack from fabric to order. Write to Contacts

Backpack pattern

Once you have prepared everything you need for manufacturing, you can begin creating the pattern. It will be needed for further preparation of parts and cutting. At this stage, the future image and appearance of the finished product is being prepared, so you should be careful about taking measurements and accurately making marks on graph paper.

A standard briefcase consists of several main parts sewn together:

  • bottom;
  • two or more side pockets;
  • back and side walls;
  • pocket flap;
  • pens.

The process of creating a pattern consists of several stages, which are done separately for each element.

pattern

  • Build a rectangle of the desired size for the bottom blank. You can use standard sizes 12x33 cm.
  • After this, draw an image of the front and back walls measuring 33x40 cm. Depending on the height, the height may vary.
  • Make the side walls in the form of rectangles, taking on the appearance of a wedge from above, according to the corresponding height and width of the portfolio.
  • After that, start marking the pockets. You can make pockets of the same size symmetrically on both sides or one large one in front. They should fit on the outer body of the backpack.
  • All that remains is to build a drawing of the handles . Their length and width are also adjusted according to the height and shoulder width of the person for whom the briefcase is being made. You can use the universal method and make them with tightening straps for adjustment.

In addition, it is worth considering patterns for the inner lining . They will be the same size as the outer frame, so just duplicate the drawings.

IMPORTANT! Dimensions are taken with allowance for hems when sewing parts together.

DIY leather briefcase

With a little effort and personal time, you can make a leather briefcase yourself. Such a product will have a unique appearance and meet all the needs of its owner.

First of all, it is recommended to make a sketch according to which we will act. This will allow you to quickly decide on the design of the briefcase itself, its size and capacity, and the location of fastenings and locks. If necessary, you may need to work on several sketches to perfect the design of the accessory.

Now let's move on to working with leather material. If the roll needs painting, it is better to use powder dyes. We make the solution following the established instructions. Using a sponge, paint the skin and leave until completely dry.

Important: gloves must be used when working with paint.

When the paint has dried, the surface should be treated with a thick, soft cloth. This will allow you to remove excess dyes from the surfaces of the future portfolio.

We cut out blanks from cardboard, retreating 1-2 centimeters for allowances. They are spent on seams. We place the finished patterns on the surface of the material. Using a knife, being careful, we cut out the patterns. The main parts are ready.

The next step is processing the wrong sides of the material. It is necessary to make the edges of the skin thinner. This will make the process of laying seams easier. When working, you can use a regular razor. Carefully process the edges, removing one layer. Fold in the centimeter left for allowances and stitch. To do this, use a sewing machine, skipping a line.

Let's move on to the design of handles and fasteners. We fold a small strip of leather in half and place two fasteners at the edges. Fasten with rivets. Excess rivet legs can be bitten off with pliers. The resulting handle can be left as is, or it can be wrapped again in a small piece of leather. We sew the ends on a sewing machine. Place the stitch as close to the strap as possible. Remove the excess with a knife.

Let's start attaching the handle. The strap is attached with rivets, then the handle itself is inserted. The edges are finished with small stitches. Using a similar method, we place the remaining fasteners - belts, holders.

Important: external parts are attached before direct assembly of the product.

Let's move on to working with the lining. We cut out the material, following the patterns for the briefcase. We sew on the necessary pockets and additional compartments using a sewing machine. After preparation, we sew the lining to each part of the briefcase separately.

Finally, we begin to assemble all the components of the accessory. We sew the side parts to the back by hand. It is recommended to work with 2 needles for precise fixation. Carefully ensure that all seams and parts are at the same level. If everything is done correctly, you can sew the front part. We carefully cut off the excess material left for allowances. The briefcase is ready.

Finally, you can treat the product with natural leather wax. Apply the product to a clean rag and treat the surface from all sides. Leave until completely dry, then treat again with a clean, dry cloth.

It is worth noting that bags are now in trend, both men’s and women’s, in the style of briefcases and suitcases, and often these bags are unisex in nature and super fashionable nowadays - the effect of aged leather, so if you take into account all these points and sew a briefcase with your own made from artificially aged leather with your hands - I’m sure it will be a mega designer and stylish bag, so it makes sense to learn how to sew a briefcase, I think so.

WORLD OF HOBBIES

In any family there will always be well-preserved things that are no longer used for their intended purpose. Therefore, we can, for example, propose to make a backpack from a jacket or combine it from two jackets, sewn from fabrics with similar plastic properties and texture. In its design, depending on the style and cut of the jacket, ready-made parts (for example, pockets, straps, valves, etc.) and accessories can be partially or completely used. Buckles, zippers from old shoes (boots, sandals, shoes), and carabiners from school backpacks will also be useful in this work.

In Fig. 1

the appearance of a folding backpack made from a jacket of a simple design is presented, the sewing of which uses ready-made pockets, flaps and a zipper. It consists of the following parts: main fabric - 1, bottom - 1, flap - 1, pocket - 2, pocket flap - 2, pocket side - 2, shoulder strap - 2, shoulder pad - 2, flap strap - 2.

The backpack unfolds using a detachable zipper 50 cm long, connecting the side sections of the main fabric and two permanent zippers, 40 cm long, connecting the lower sections of the main fabric with the bottom (Fig. 2).

The main fabric of the backpack is a rectangle, consisting of side and middle parts, cut from the back and front of the jacket (Fig. 3).

The bottom of the backpack is cut out from the upper part of the back of the jacket, the flap is cut out from the upper part of the sleeves (the roundness of the collar is used in the cut). If the finished jacket pockets do not fit the intended model, then they are cut out from the remaining parts of the sleeves.

Shoulder and flap straps can also be cut from the remaining parts of the jacket, or you can use ready-made belts, thick grosgrain tape, etc.

The work is performed in this sequence. Open the jacket at the seams, remove any remaining threads, wash well and iron. If the fabric has an unsightly appearance (burnt out, stained, etc.), it can be dyed in the desired color with an appropriate aniline dye. Directions for using it are on the packaging.

According to Fig. 4

prepare patterns for the backpack parts (their drawings are given with seam allowances of 1-1.5 cm), apply the templates to the jacket parts (see Fig. 3) and cut them out.

It is better to start sewing by preparing small parts, then connect the bottom with the lower cut of the main fabric, and sew the upper cut with a hem seam (for the cord). Sew a flap on the front side of the middle part of the main fabric, while simultaneously strengthening the shoulder straps on it.

To prevent the belts from chafing your shoulders, they are reinforced with quilted shoulder pads. Then, starting from the corners, permanent zippers are sewn in, connecting the bottom of the backpack with the main fabric.

A detachable zipper is sewn to the side sections of the main fabric. The pockets are sewn to the sides of the backpack along the marked lines. A cord is pulled along the upper edge. Fittings are sewn into the right places.

The proposed backpack can also be made from tent or awning fabric, teak, or bologna. In this case, its consumption is 150 cm with a width of 90 cm.

Fashionable backpacks for girls for school: stylish fabric models

Fabric bags or backpacks with two straps combine beauty, convenience, spaciousness and safety. Such models evenly distribute the load on the spine and do not disturb posture, which is dangerous due to the appearance of scoliosis. For first-graders, choose models with an orthopedic back; for teenagers, classic backpacks, roomy bags and models over one shoulder are suitable.

Fabric backpacks for girls are also divided by weight category. It is important to choose a light backpack, because it will accommodate already heavy textbooks and notebooks.

Backpacks are considered popular models for first-grader girls:

  • light up to 700 grams
  • medium up to 1 kg
  • heavy over 1 kg

When choosing a backpack, raise it to head level. This way you can fully feel the weight of the portfolio. If your hand is not comfortable and you are in a hurry to lower it, then it will be difficult for your child with such a backpack.
