Anyone who has a stove or fireplace has to carry wood to it.
I offer a simple device to make it easier to carry firewood. In a round wooden handle (a scrap of a shovel handle), slightly away from the edges, holes are drilled into which the ends of a strong rope (for example, a clothesline) are threaded and knotted.
The handle and the rope straightened in an arc are placed on the floor, and firewood is laid on top. All that remains is to throw the free ends of the rope over the handles - and an easy-to-carry bundle of firewood is ready. As an option, you can attach a second handle to the rope arc. With such a “string bag” it’s easy to carry even large logs.
And so that there is no debris from the firewood, you can lay polyethylene, a rag or sew a bag for the firewood.
From an old tarpaulin, any unnecessary strong rag or leatherette, build yourself such a permanent “string bag”: carrying firewood will become convenient and easy.

Option #1 – fabric or leather carrier
You need to choose a thick fabric, you can also use old unnecessary clothes. We cut out a couple of rectangles from the fabric - 50/80 cm. If the material is very durable, you can get by with a piece of fabric in one layer; we sew two panels for greater strength. We determine the center of the canvas based on the width; a piece is cut out in the center according to the size of a man’s hand (on average 15/15 cm). The same length is cut in width on the other side.
The resulting protruding strips of fabric will serve as carrying handles; they need to be folded in half and sewn to the fabric, leaving space on the sides unsewn. The result should be handles with side holes, into which you then need to insert strong sticks made of plastic or wood. The result is a convenient carrying for firewood. A more expensive option is to use leather instead of thick fabric; this type of carrying is more practical and will last longer. Today, baby carrier sewing services are also offered online.
To make a carrier, you need to choose thick fabric, not necessarily new. This could be an old coat, jacket, or a piece of canvas. If you have an unwanted old leather jacket, use it to create a durable carrier

Fabric firewood carrier
You can easily carry a fabric carrier in the trunk of a car, a backpack, or even under your armpit. And most importantly, this is a great option for a firewood bag that you can sew in 30 minutes! To work, you need to prepare fabric and 2 small wooden logs with a diameter of up to 4 cm.
To create a firewood carrier made of fabric is the simplest and most affordable option of all those presented on this page: you will need a piece of thick fabric and a couple of cuttings as a handle
This is how simple the transfer ends up: as they say, everything ingenious is simple
Step 1. Pattern. It is better to take a thicker fabric for carrying, or fold it in 2 layers. Leather, leather substitute, denim, burlap or tarpaulin work well. The cut dimensions are approximately 120x50 cm. On the narrow edges, provide space for handles.
Step 2. Sew the edges. If the fabric is double, stitch the edges. Now fold the short edges inward by 6-8 cm and sew to the sides. You have a rectangle, at the ends of which you can insert 2 round logs.
Step 3. Prepare the handles. We grind 2 wooden logs, removing the bark. We insert them into the fabric and the firewood carrier is ready.
If there are no suitable cuttings for the handles, then you can make these same handles from the same fabric as the main part of the device
On a winter evening, carrying firewood to the bathhouse in such a carrier is a pleasure, take my word for it.
You can sew such a bag for firewood from old jeans. You need to cut off the legs, rip them apart at one end and sew them together around the perimeter. This way we will get a stylish and original blank for fabric carrying.
People's imagination is limitless, which is why many options have been invented for carrying firewood. Here are the most original of them:
Carrying from a car tire. Did you think they were only used for flower beds and swans? And they will turn into an original portable basket for firewood if you cut off one of the curved edges and make side handles from it.

Option #2 – ready-made wicker firewood boxes
At the dacha, you can successfully use a firewood rack for a sauna in the form of a wicker basket. A basket made of wicker for carrying firewood is not suitable as a device for large logs, but it will be convenient to carry small logs and brushwood in it.
