Remaking a Chinese garland for color music. How to make color music using LEDs on your own

This simplest light music has only one element. Yes, absolutely alone and nothing but: no resistors, no transistors... It is quite possible to assemble such a light and music installation in 30 minutes. All you need is one solid state relay. Solid-state relays appeared on the market relatively recently and have already confidently conquered the radio electronics market. It’s understandable, I’ll give you the main advantages.
  • - Performance.
  • — Galvanic voltage isolation.
  • — Silent, compared to a conventional relay.
  • — Zero crossing detector.

There are many more advantages, I have cited only a few.
A solid-state relay, in essence, apart from the name, has nothing in common with a mechanical relay, which everyone usually imagines when hearing this name for the first time. This is a regular triac switch, with control and decoupling circuits. This miracle is very inexpensive and can easily be bought on our favorite Aliexpress.com There are many different versions of relays on the radio market: small and large, powerful and low-power. I took this: Firstly, it has screw terminals for connection. Secondly, it can switch a load with a voltage of 24-380 V and a current of up to 60 A. Of course, I took it overkill for other purposes. To control a garland, it is enough to take from 2 A. Thirdly, the control voltage is from 3 to 32 volts, pulsed. Just what we need, since we will control the relay directly with the sound supplied from the output of the low-frequency amplifier.

Light and music circuit

A solid-state relay is connected to the open circuit of a lamp or garland.
And the sound from the speaker is supplied to the input of the solid-state relay. The scheme couldn't be simpler. The main thing is not to confuse the conclusions. Now, as soon as the music starts playing in the speaker, the garland will immediately start blinking in time with the music. We take the output from the amplifier from any channel, left or right. You can connect between the outputs so that the garland flashes with a stereo effect. If there is a subwoofer output, you can connect it to it. Or you can take two garlands and two relays and connect to different channels. There are a lot of options, choose any one you like. I added a park of toggle switches to the circuit for switching. The first toggle switch in the diagram is so that you can simply turn on the garland in normal mode. And the second is to turn off the influence of music on her. Thanks to galvanic isolation, high mains voltage is reliably isolated and will not pass through the speaker and amplifier. I took a plastic container and placed sockets there to connect the load. I made holes for the toggle switches and connected the entire system. Color music from a garland

Color music from a garland will add a good mood not only at home or in a bar where parties and discos are held. A motorist also needs it so as not to fall asleep while driving in many kilometers of traffic jams, and simply - the color music flashing in time evokes only admiration. From this article you will learn how to make color music from a garland without spending a lot of time and effort. If you are a motorist and have decided that color music is very necessary in the car, then discard the idea of purchasing it in a store. Of course, you can find everything today, but why spend extra money if you can assemble a completely unique example of color music from ordinary garlands according to the scheme.

The figure below shows a diagram of a color and music installation that works with 3 different lamps. At the same time, the power of the spotlights reaches 100 W each.

Thanks to this simple diagram, you can assemble the installation yourself.

Let's consider the most important provisions of this scheme:

  • The main input is for wires going to the amplifier output. The connection is carried out as follows: remove one of the speaker wires (see) and in its place put the wire from the color music or in parallel, leaving everything as is.

Note. With this connection, the lights will blink in time with the music. In this case, lamp VT1 or VL1 will flash on the high frequency, and the other two, respectively, on the mid and low frequencies.

  • The lamps themselves are connected by thyristors, which have control electrodes, and these, in turn, are supplied with voltage through filters on resistors and capacitors.

Note. To ensure that lamps or spotlights, as they are also called, operate at full intensity and the thyristors do not burn out, the network voltage is corrected using diodes. They are responsible for converting the voltage value from alternating to pulsating.

  • The transformer in this circuit can be used from a single-program radio point. If you couldn’t find one, then an audio output transformer will do. The ideal option is from an old tube TV;
  • As for thyristors, they are placed in metal cases. Their anode is brought out to the housing, and the cathode is located on top, and the control electrode is located below. The thyristors are fastened using nuts directly to the board.

What is whistling?

A whistle is a certain sound made by a person with the appropriate position of his lips and tongue. Sometimes fingers and other devices are used to make sound.

For some people, whistling evokes admiration, while others experience negative emotions when they hear this sound.

Let's look at what the skill is used for today:

  1. For support.
    Anyone who has attended a sports competition or gone with friends to the stadium to cheer for their favorite football team has heard the characteristic whistle.

    Sound is used by fans to support football players in the game. After all, words and shouts are unlikely to reach the athletes, and whistling will become a loud sound of approval from the fans.

  2. To hail.
    Although it is rude to do so in public, many men use whistling to quickly call out to a person walking by.

    With the help of sound it is easy to call friends who are far away.

  3. To express rejection.
    Many people have repeatedly heard the characteristic “negative” whistles at musicians’ performances, which were not to the liking of the audience present.

As you can see, using a whistle is appropriate to quickly call a person or make him turn around.

To whistle beautifully, you need to learn an artistic version, where the whistle repeats a familiar melody.

Operation algorithm

So:

  • We take several garlands. Their length should not exceed 1-2 meters;
  • An LPT adapter is suitable as an adapter;
  • We prepare a shielded twisted pair cable;
  • We connect the garlands to the head unit using an adapter and wires;
  • Turn on the car radio and go to the menu. We find the “flash zone”, which is responsible for setting color music (in Pioneer car radios).

Note. If the car radio is expensive, then it is possible to connect to the Internet. In this case, it will be easy to download one of the computer programs/players such as ALMP2 or KMPlayer. All that remains is to launch the selected player. The program will allow you to convert the frequency spectrum of a music track in the form of a data array.

  • This array is processed and sent via USB port to . What happens is the following: the pulses of the music track travel through the channels to the garlands, and they begin to blink and real color music is formed.

How to whistle with a straw

The life of every person is accompanied by emotional experiences and stressful situations. It is sometimes difficult to eliminate strong nervous stress.

There are many ways to minimize nervous tension. However, the most effective ones involve shouting or whistling. It’s easy to scream loudly, but if you do it in the evening, going out onto the balcony, the neighbors won’t understand and will definitely call the police.

A more reliable whistle in this regard. Even if you whistle shrilly and loudly several times, no one will pay attention; children do this all the time. In turn, relieve stress and lift your spirits.

There are two ways to whistle with a straw. In the first case, the main work is done by the lips, and in the second - by the tongue.

  1. Curl your lips into a tube and place the end of your tongue as close to your upper teeth as possible. Blow air through the small gap that appears. The result is a thin whistle.
  2. The second option is suitable if you can fold your tongue into a tube. Blow air slowly through the hole formed by your tongue and lips.
  3. If instead of a whistle you get regular noise, don’t be upset. This is a sign that the whistle needs tuning. Slowly unfold your tongue until a quiet whistle escapes from your mouth.

The ability to whistle will help you out when you need to call someone or attract attention. With the help of whistling you can entertain yourself when you are bored. The scope of application of the skill is wide and limited only by imagination.

Color music made of plexiglass

You can make color music in a car from plexiglass. To do this you will need the following materials:

  • 12 V adapter or battery;
  • Headphone cable;
  • Transistor, like KT817;
  • 5 mm LEDs of different colors;
  • Plexiglas;
  • Fine skin;
  • Electrical wire;
  • Hot glue gun.

Let's get started:

  • First of all, we make a box. We mark its diagram on paper;

Color music made of plexiglass

  • We pass the cable from the headphones into the hole on the back wall of the box;
  • We also insert the power plug and fix it with a hot-melt adhesive gun.

It will be possible to make an unlimited number of such boxes, where LEDs of various colors will be installed: red, green, blue. All these boxes can be placed around the entire circumference of the cabin ceiling or in another place. It will be very beautiful and the lights will start blinking to the beat of the music.

In the process of creating and connecting color music from garlands or other material, it will be useful to watch a video review on how this is done. Instructions, step-by-step photos, diagrams - all this is very important when working with your own hands. Thus, the price of high-quality and reliably assembled color music will be minimal. Only consumables are purchased.

In order to throw a party at home, you need to think in advance about creating an appropriate atmosphere reminiscent of a nightclub. One of its main elements is color music. If you buy it in a company store, it will be quite an expensive pleasure. Therefore, in such situations, the question often arises of how to make color music from a garland. As a rule, this operation does not require special skills or special knowledge of electrical engineering. It is enough to have the necessary materials on hand and be able to work with simple tools.

How to whistle without fingers

Sometimes learning to whistle can be very beneficial, especially if you don't have to use your fingers. When there is no opportunity to give a hand signal, and there is no desire to shout, whistling will easily attract attention.

The technique of whistling without fingers is simple, anyone can master it. To play it you will have to hold your lips in a special position. Read on to find out how to do this.

Method No. 1

  • Move your lower jaw forward a little. The main thing is that the lower lip completely covers the teeth and presses tightly against them. At first there may be difficulties. So press your lip with your fingers. Proceed with caution, otherwise toothache will occur.
  • The algorithm does not provide for strict fixation of the language. It should respond easily to air currents. Move the tip of your tongue away from your teeth a few millimeters. As you exhale, the air will pass under your tongue.
  • If you initially don’t succeed without using your fingers, don’t despair. The key to success is constant training or a second whistling technique. It differs only in the position of the lips.

Method number 2

  1. Stand in front of the mirror and relax as much as possible. Purse your lips in an “O” shape. Make the air outlet hole small.
  2. Place your tongue so that it slightly touches your lower teeth.
  3. Exhale slowly. It may initially sound unclean. Manipulating the tongue will help improve quality.

When first practicing fingerless whistling, use small volumes of air to speed up learning. Over time, learn to blow harder.

It will take several days or weeks to see results. After this time, you will be able to whistle your favorite tunes while cleaning the apartment or cooking barbecue.

Preparatory stage

To assemble the simplest color music, you need to prepare the following materials:

  • LEDs 5 mm
  • Electrical wire
  • Transistor brand KT817
  • 3.5mm headphone cable
  • 12V adapter
  • Plexiglas or plexiglass
  • Fine sandpaper
  • Thermal gun for gluing.

First you need to make a plexiglass box. It is usually made in the shape of a parallelepiped. To do this, 4 large and 2 small plates are cut out. It is best to choose average sizes so that they are neither large nor small. When cutting out plates, you need to make sure that there are no distortions, otherwise problems may arise during assembly.

In one of the walls, which will be the back, you need to pre-drill holes for the power cable and headphone cable. After all operations, the box must be made matte using sandpaper.

The next step will be installation. Their number is calculated depending on the output operating voltage of the adapter and the rated operating voltage of one LED. It is not recommended to use high-power LEDs and a power supply with a voltage of more than 12V.

How to whistle with your fingers

If you think that you can become a robber nightingale in a few minutes, you are very mistaken. To master the loud whistle technique, you will have to practice regularly for a long time. Continuing the topic of the article, let's get acquainted with the basics and take a closer look at how to learn to whistle with your fingers.

In a person's life, whistling plays an important role. Some people use it to demonstrate emotions, others use it to attract attention. According to scientists, whistling is an excellent cure for loneliness and depression.

Each option has advantages and disadvantages, based on which a certain method is chosen. I suggest considering whistling using your fingers.

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly because you will have to put your fingers in your mouth. Gently fold both lips in to completely cover the teeth. You should look like a toothless old lady.
  2. The next step is to position your fingers correctly in your mouth so you can whistle. Otherwise, instead of whistling, you will get a simple blowing of air. Just hold your lips with your fingers. The rest of the work depends on the position of the tongue.
  3. There are two options for the correct placement of fingers. The first option involves using the fingers of only one hand, the second method uses two hands.
  4. Prepare your tongue. Putting your fingers into your mouth with your nails toward the center, move your tongue as far away from your teeth and lower palate as possible. This position will allow you to start training.
  5. After taking a deep breath, slowly release the air through your mouth, keeping your fingers and tongue in the same position. If you can whistle for a long time, move your fingers or tongue to find the optimal point.

Super video life hack

Guided by a step-by-step algorithm, you will soon delight yourself and those around you with a loud whistle. It is possible that this simple activity will become a hobby, and you, being a true professional, will be able to easily whistle melodies of any complexity.

Assembly of color music

It’s not difficult to assemble a ready-made circuit; you just need to know exactly the procedure. When deciding how to make color music from a garland, you must first of all thread the audio cord through the hole. Only the center wire and one of the channels are used.

After this, the LEDs are connected. It is necessary to carefully monitor the polarity so as not to mix up the leads. A transistor includes an emitter, a collector, and a base. The installed plug is secured with an adhesive gun.

After assembling the color music, the circuit needs to be checked for functionality. To do this, the plug is connected to a power source. If everything functions normally, then the assembly was completed correctly. At the end of all operations, all that remains is to secure the top cover of the box. DIY color music will be an excellent addition not only to the party itself, but also to the entire interior of the room.

Steps

    Decide on the size of your garland show.

    You can hang the whole house with garlands - both inside and outside - or choose a separate area in your house and in the front garden. Keep the following in mind as you plan your garland display:

  • A strip is a section of garlands that can be individually controlled. For example, a single branch in a patio can be a stripe if you hang it with one set of garlands.
  • All garlands in a strip work as a single section. Unfortunately, you cannot light a separate string light.
  • Strips ranging from 32 to 64 are a great size to start with if you've never programmed lights to match music. Any streaks that are larger than this will result in you cursing the day you decided to take on the project (or the day your wife forced you to take it on).
  • Stock up.

    The best time to buy garlands is the day after Christmas. So, you will find garlands for 20 rubles, although they cost 80 rubles. Compare prices at different department stores so you don't make a mistake. Compare prices online.

    Buy a regulator.

    You will need hardware that connects to your computer. This control can be purchased assembled, as a kit, or as a homemade system.

  • The entire assembled system works right out of the box. It will cost approximately 700 - 800 rubles per strip. This regulator can be purchased in online stores. Go with this choice if you don't want to bother with any electrical work (especially soldering) or have no idea where to start.
  • The kit partly requires control via a keyboard. It costs from 500 rubles per strip, but it is almost the same as the whole control, only without the housing. Since it's so easy to fit the electronic board into the case, this kit is a great option if you're looking to save money. Some dealers sell everything you need to assemble a regulator, including the bare circuit board and parts. If you want to do some soldering, check it out.

  • The do-it-yourself system costs from 200 rubles per strip. The price depends on how much you have to do yourself. The system consists of a controller, which is adjacent to the computer, and a semiconductor relay (SPR), which actually lights the garlands. You can buy PPR or make it yourself. If you bought this system, you will have to spend a long time making this equipment, but you save money. You will also have the opportunity to fully customize your equipment, and you can easily troubleshoot problems.
  • Ask for help.

    This project can be very significant and challenging, so you may be overwhelmed at first. Recruit your friends and family or join the forums below for help.

    • Depending on the level of complexity, give yourself 2 to 6 months of preparation before your garland show is fully completed. It sounds terrifying, but that's exactly how long it will take you.
  • Install the software.

    If you are a low-tech specialist, buy software that will help you program the blinking lights. There is also a free program for homemade systems (see links section). If you are ambitious and claim to be a technical master, codify this program manually in any major programming language. However, please note that you will not be able to use this option for pre-built products, as most of their protocols are closed source.

    • The software you choose will break down the song you want your lights to sync to into very short segments (.10 seconds), allowing you to program each strip of lights to turn on, turn off, sparkle or twinkle. There are three commercial software options. Light-O-Rama is the supplier for most residential string lights displays. However, it is very complicated, so to match a minute of a song with 32-48 strips you will have to spend a whole four hours.
    • Animated Lighting is much more expensive, but easier to use. Some residential garland displays also choose Animated Lighting.

  • D-Lights are the second least expensive option, but you will have to read up on the control systems and electrical engineering.
  • Hinkle's Lighting Sequencer is free software that is easy to use yet powerful for incandescent light bulbs, LEDs, and GLC LEDs.
  • Create your own decoration.

    Create exterior decorations. Common elements to include are:

    • Mini lights or bare garlands that extend throughout the garden area.
    • Light icicles or moon garlands that hang from the roof.

  • Mini trees are two- or three-foot trees made from a tomato cage that is wrapped in garlands of one or more colors. Arranged in a line or in a triangle, they are often used in animated scenery.
  • A mega tree usually consists of a large pillar decorated with garlands that extend from the top to a large ring around the base. Again, it is used in animated scenery.
  • Frames are metal frames decorated with garlands. Pressed forms - plastic glowing sculptures of deer, Santa, etc. They are often placed throughout the yard.
  • C9 garlands are bulbous, convex and multi-colored lights that are usually placed around the perimeter of the yard.
  • Program your show.

    But here you will have to work hard! Choose the music with which you will synchronize the flickering of the garlands. And then start programming on the timeline. Don't grab everything at once. This will likely take a couple of months, depending on the length of your show and the number of strips available. The show will depend on which software you choose.

  • Let them hear you.

    Take advantage of the effect that creates great sound that keeps everyone calm. The same music blasting from the speakers over and over again will drive the neighbors crazy, so in most cases you will need to broadcast the music on the FM frequency. Please see the warning section at the end of this article.

  • It's hard to find a person who doesn't like listening to music. To satisfy this desire, high-quality music centers, speakers and other devices are purchased. To get even more pleasure, many people think about creating special color effects that can decorate any sound and create a romantic atmosphere on a date or a fun mood when organizing a holiday party. Color music, like music centers, can be purchased, or you can make it yourself. The best option is to make color music using LEDs with your own hands according to one of the proposed schemes.

    Do-it-yourself color music

    Often, to create the optimal atmosphere for a party, one important detail is missing - color music. How to be? Not everyone can rent such equipment. In this case, you can make your own color music. You don't need to be a genius to do this. In addition, everything you need for this can be found in any store. It is worth noting that original color music, created with your own hands, can decorate not only a separate room, but also a car. This allows you to relax well in a long traffic jam and, of course, not fall asleep. So, how to make color music with your own hands?

    Purchase of a ready-made CMU

    If you don’t want to make a color music system for use at home, you can purchase a CMU, that is, a color music installation. This is a ready-made functional solution that includes a controller. It will process the sound, converting it into a light and music visual representation. In the process of reproducing the light, its intensity and color scheme will change, thereby creating the effect of a real disco. The CMU device also includes a panel with built-in diodes.

    These devices may be based on a spectral decomposition into frequencies, where each of them will have a specific color scheme or preset adjustments with a variety of effects and their alternation. They can be configured using the included remote control.

    Important! Modern CMUs are very simple to install and configure. This is an ideal solution for organizing a home party or disco.

    Connection and testing

    After all the parts are connected according to the specified diagram, you need to run one of the programs on your computer that allows you to work with color music. The well-known Winamp is suitable for this. The processed data array is transferred to the device via the USB port. As a result, the signal is output to eight twisted pair channels. This is what causes the LEDs to light up in a certain sequence. This is how you make color music with your own hands from an ordinary garland.

    Learning to whistle with two fingers - method one

    Wash your hands because you will be holding them in your mouth. Dirty hands can introduce infection into the body. For whistling, choose any hand that suits you. Next, your actions are as follows:

    • Place your thumb about three millimeters from your index finger. You can use other fingers too;
    • put your fingers in your mouth and close your lips over them. A stream of air will begin to flow between your fingers. Place your fingers in your mouth opposite your lower teeth. The tongue is located on the other side;
    • press your fingers well with your lips and take a deep breath;
    • exhale through a kind of tick formed by your fingers. Use your tongue to direct the airflow correctly. Blow a few times and you will start whistling.

    Case manufacturing

    So, let's prepare the body. To make it you will need 4 rectangular plates with dimensions of 5 by 15 centimeters, as well as square plates - 5 by 5 centimeters. You need to cut them carefully so that the products turn out even.

    Several holes should be made in one of the rectangular plates. One will be needed for headphones, and the second for power. Each of the body parts must be matted and sanded. The same thing needs to be done with LEDs. You can assemble the body using When the structure is ready, you can begin assembly.

    Learning to whistle with two fingers - method two

    Roll your index finger and thumb into an open ring shape. Place your fingers in your mouth on one phalanx and press them against your lower lip. Cover your teeth with your lips, otherwise a hiss will come out. Point your fingers towards the middle of your tongue. Move its tip towards the lower palate. You take in air and release it sharply. First hear a hiss, experiment with the position of your fingers and tongue.

    There is another method of whistling - insert the little fingers of both hands into your mouth and connect them in your mouth. The thumb holds the other fingers on the hands. The whistling process is similar to the above.

    Do-it-yourself color music: diagram

    First you need to thread the audio cord through the hole. Now it should be connected to the transistor. After this, all the LEDs must be connected in series to the positive side of the battery or adapter. After this, all parts must be assembled in one housing. The adapter must be connected to the transistor via a minus. This is the main rule. A series string of LEDs must be connected to a transistor.

    Particular attention should be paid to the audio cable. You can take it from old headphones. There are three cores under the braid. This is one common wire and several wires for the right and left channels. To assemble the circuit, you only need two. Usually there is a general one and one for channels. The third wire remains unused. Both wires are usually connected to the transistor. But the adapter is specifically for the involved channel wire. That's all, the LED color music, created with your own hands, is ready.

    Advantages of LED products

    The modern electronics market presents a wide variety of LED strips that have a wide variety of color effects. With their help, you can create high-quality spot lighting; it is possible to create color music with flashing or blurry effects.

    Unlike conventional light bulbs, LEDs have many positive characteristics. Among the main advantages of LED strips are:

    • wide and varied range of colors;
    • rendering rich colors;
    • different design options - rulers, modules, discrete elements, RGB strips;
    • high response speed;
    • minimum amount of energy consumed.

    The ribbons can be used at home, in clubs and cafes, and can be used to effectively illuminate shop windows. This article will describe in more detail the option of LED color music for ordinary home use.
