Gone are the days when people were surprised at every new billboard or custom design. Now passers-by are increasingly absorbed in looking at pictures and videos on their smartphones. They stopped looking around, becoming more and more immersed in the information that is provided to them on the Internet. But outdoor advertising continues to be popular and effective, especially when it is done correctly, when advertisers take into account the behavioral factors of the population and help them get what they are looking for.
We have selected for you the most effective recommendations that will make your outdoor advertising noticeable, memorable and useful.
LED light box design
Some manufacturers, under the guise of new technologies, use economically unjustified production solutions, for example, PVC reflectors, light modules based on a large number of LED clusters. This significantly increases the cost of the design without significantly affecting the performance characteristics.
Let's consider a simple and affordable lightbox design.
To make your own lightbox we will need:
- A sheet of thin (8-10 mm) acrylic glass with a minimum refractive index;
- frame materials;
- fastening elements (connecting angles, self-tapping screws);
- high brightness LED strip;
- PVC sheet for back and side walls;
- tools (drill, screwdriver, saw).
Frame design
The frame must provide good structural rigidity.
For small-sized structures, you can even use an ordinary board or furniture board as a super-budget option. When making more massive lightboxes, it is better to use a steel or aluminum profile. The main thing is to ensure that the structure is weather-resistant if the box is located outdoors.
Front Panel
To make the front panel, transparent materials are used - silicate glass, acrylic glass, transparent PVC sheet. PVC has the lowest refractive index, but also the highest price.
The most practical option is acrylic glass. It is more expensive than silicate, but much more resistant to shocks and loads. However, when creating a small box with an area of up to 0.5 square meters, it is possible to use ordinary window glass with a thickness of 3-4 mm.
Light box housing
The cases of all lightboxes are made of sheet polyvinyl chloride (PVC). In terms of price/reliability ratio, this material is unrivaled.
The main requirement for the material is sufficient mechanical strength, light resistance, resistance to weather conditions and protection of the internal contents of the box.
Design of light-emitting elements
To illuminate the light box, LED modules or LED strip are used. With the advent of compact strips of increased brightness, the use of LED modules is not economically profitable.
In order to provide uniform illumination, the LED strip is mounted in one or two rows along the inner perimeter of the box. The inside of the box itself must be covered with materials with a high reflective coefficient. You can consider using ordinary white glossy paint or white self-adhesive film for this purpose.
Light box manufacturing procedure:
DIY lightbox with LEDs
When deciding how to make a light box, you should first study all the subtleties of the design of this type. For example, for operation in more severe conditions (outdoors), it will be necessary to prepare a reinforced frame. For premises, a simplified frame is sufficient; in addition, the manufacture of a box with lighting for advertising in this case does not involve the use of a metal profile for installation as side walls.
Transparent lightbox (acrylight)
Transparent lightboxes became an original modification of the classic box.
In a standard lightbox, the image is on paper mounted inside the case. In acrylic, an image is formed when a layer of transparent acrylic is destroyed due to the reflection of light in it. Advertising agencies use CNC engravers with cutters and grinding attachments or laser engravers to apply images. At home, this effect can be achieved using matting compounds.
Dynamic Acrylight
By using your imagination, you can create a multi-layer acrylic with a dynamic image. Here is an example of such a design:
3D light box
The fusion of lightbox and acrylic technology allows you to create stunning compositions.
To make such a three-dimensional box you will need a very modest set of materials:
- LED Strip Light;
- silicate or acrylic glass;
- mirror or oracal film with a mirror coating;
- profile for the frame.
Video instructions for making a three-dimensional lightbox:
The LED panel is one of the best types of universal household lamps today, which you can also make with your own hands. However, before you start making it, you need to find out what materials and tools are required, what kind of device this lighting device has, what are the main steps of its assembly procedure and whether it is worth doing it yourself or is it better to buy a ready-made model. Let us consider these and some other aspects in detail.
How are light boxes made?
There are several “classical” methods for making light boxes, and which one to choose in each specific case depends on the size of the advertising structure and its location.
Collect from profile
The most popular technology is profile assembly of lightboxes. It is suitable for light boxes of the most popular sizes, both in outdoor and indoor versions, and at a fairly modest material and time cost it produces a decent result.
Most often, an aluminum profile (130mm - 180mm) is used to make a light box. It is equipped with grooves for fastening the back wall and front panel, as well as for connecting the ends of the profile itself, which in this design serves as the sides.
The back wall of small boxes is made of plastic (3mm), medium and large ones are made of galvanized steel (0.5 - 0.7mm) or aluminum sheet (1-1.5mm thick). A panel of acrylic glass (2-3mm) or cellular polycarbonate is used as the front surface, onto which an advertising image is applied using vinyl film application or direct printing.
Acrylic is used for small and medium-sized boxes, polycarbonate is used for large structures, mainly for outdoor use.
Lighting equipment - LED clusters or fluorescent lamps along with accompanying fittings - are mounted either on the back wall (if the lightbox is single-sided) or on a special metal frame installed inside the box (if the lightbox is double-sided). A mandatory component of fluorescent backlighting is compensating capacitors, which at least halve the energy consumption of the lighting installation.
Glue from PVC and acrylic
This technology is used in the manufacture of small light boxes (up to 100x150 cm with a depth of 7-20 cm) for interior decoration. Its main advantage is the ability to make a box of complex configuration and illuminate it throughout the entire volume. Fluorescent lamps, LED clusters and gas-light tubes (neon) can be used as lighting.
The design of a lightweight glued lightbox does not have a profile base. The body consists of opaque plastic (usually foamed PVC) and milky acrylic glass, or entirely of acrylic (except for the back wall). When assembling such a light box, special attention is paid to the accuracy of execution - careful processing of joints, masking of fasteners, etc., since even minor flaws are visible in the interior, and a high-quality product - with clear edges in the absence of edging profiles - has a monolithic, more presentable appearance .
Pull the banner
This technology is used if you need to make a very large light box (more than 12 m in length) or a box of small dimensions, but with a convex or concave surface.
The structural basis of such a box is a metal frame with a special system for tensioning the vinyl sheet using a covering profile. The larger the structure, the more powerful the welded frame must be - for roof installation, for example, it is welded from a steel profile pipe. The back wall of such a box is sheathed with aluminum or galvanized steel sheets with special hatches for servicing the lighting system. Fluorescent lamps are used as illumination, and the advertising image is applied using large-format printing.
Cut from composite
Technology for those who are not used to saving on quality and durability: light boxes made of composite materials such as “alucobond” and “dibond” (a three-layer “mixture” of aluminum, viscoelastics and high-molecular polyethylene resin) are not afraid of moisture, temperature changes and other climatic troubles and compared to their “competitors” they function much longer and retain their “face”.
The large dimensions of the sheets (up to 1.4x6 m) allow the use of composites in the production of large light boxes: the frame metal structure is sheathed on all sides with composite panels, slots are made in them using milling for inscriptions and other overhead elements, milk is attached to the slots (from the inside) or colored plexiglass. Fluorescent lamps or LED clusters are used as lighting.
Small lightboxes made of composites are produced using a frameless system and used in interior advertising - seamless and perfectly smooth composite boxes look solid and presentable.

What is needed for production
In order to make an LED panel with your own hands, you will need the following materials:
- Frame or base for attaching LED elements. It can be a rectangular, square or other geometric fragment made of glass, aluminum or plastic.
- LED Strip Light. This is the simplest, easiest to install and affordable for most users light source option for independent production of the type of lighting device in question.
- A power supply that is correctly rated for power.
In addition, you will additionally need consumables and tools:
- Soldering iron with a set of necessary accessories.
- Wires.
- Drill.
Power supply calculation
One of the main elements of the lamp circuit, which is the DIY LED panel, is a unit for converting 220V AC to 12V DC to power it.
However, for such a module to be operational, it must be correctly calculated based on the total power of all ice crystals. For example, if one meter of strip consumes 30 W, and a total of 3 meters are used, then the total figure will be 90 watts. To this value you need to add about 30% for the reserve, the result is 117 W. Naturally, in practice it is impossible to find transformers with such exact parameters on sale, so you can choose the closest one in value - 120, 130 W, etc.
Note! If the LED panel you assemble yourself uses a three-color RGB version of the ice strip, you will also need to select a controller based on power to programmatically switch between shades of light output.
Irina Klimenko: advertising on paper - how to make it effective (transcript of the report)
Naturally, specialized print media have their advantages and disadvantages. One of the undeniable advantages of specialized magazines is the duration of contact with a potential buyer and the willingness of this buyer to perceive information, because it is he who chooses the time to open the magazine. However, these advantages are often not used to the fullest extent by advertisers in order to convey information as effectively as possible. For most advertisers, especially small real estate agencies, all marketing activity ends when a difficult decision is made about the distribution of the advertising budget. However, the fun begins after you have decided on the choice of advertising platform. In 70% of cases, after making a decision, the questions arise: “What to advertise?”, “How to advertise?”, “What objects to put?”, “How to make the right layout?”, “What principles and creative possibilities will help present objects most effectively, and also differentiate the company from its competitors?” Advertising is a very specific sales tool that should attract and retain the interest of a potential buyer, as well as contribute to their purchasing decision. For an advertisement to be effective, it must be • Noticed • Read • Understood • Believed in • And acted upon For all this to happen, the advertisement must clearly demonstrate the benefit that satisfies the customer's need. It is necessary to take into account the peculiarities of advertising perception - a person is able to clearly perceive only one strong argument. It is on this that the entire advertisement must be built, supporting it with two or three arguments. Despite the fact that you want to put as much information about the company, objects, financial conditions, country, etc. on the advertising page, you don’t need to forget about it. What basic needs of a Russian buyer are satisfied by purchasing real estate abroad? The portrait of a typical buyer is well known: a married couple aged 30–45, with children of preschool and school age, with solved housing problems in Russia. Take regular rest. Abroad. Parents help with grandchildren. There is a stable income and available funds in the amount of €70–300 thousand. The basic needs of such a buyer, which are solved by purchasing real estate abroad, look like this. • Vacation • Saving money/investment • Visa freedom or potential residence opportunity • Prestige These are the needs that advertisers should address in their advertisements. But they do this, alas, in a rather monotonous manner. Main mistakes when preparing mock-up modular advertising
Need 1. Rest
The bulk of advertising messages that meet this need contain the following messages: “Your second home” and “The home of your dreams.”
The main visual symbol in 60% of image layouts is the sea panorama. Also, very often there is a lonely girl against the backdrop of the sea (see picture 1
). Of course it's beautiful. However, the image that is used on the advertising medium must be associated with the buyer himself. Single young girls do not buy property abroad. Perhaps such a symbol will have an effect on a rich man who is thinking about what to give his mistress. But then the title should be appropriate. For example: “You’re tired of your mistress, send her to us.” This is, of course, a joke... And yet…
Picture 1
It is strange that advertisers in their appeals to the needs of “Recreation” do not go further than using the hackneyed visual symbol of the sea. What is essentially a “second home”? This is at least a solution to the problem of children having rest for the whole summer. But none of the advertisers plays on the theme of children and does not address the potential buyer, for example, with the question “Where do your children spend the summer?” or “Do you want your child to live at home and learn the language in a language environment?” “A second home” is also a solution to the problem of organizing vacations. You no longer need to plan a vacation, contact travel agencies, obtain a visa, etc. In my practice, I have never come across such advertising messages: “Don’t waste any more time organizing your vacation! Book a ticket, call us and we will meet you” or “No need to carry a huge suitcase anymore, come light - your things are waiting for you at home.” Another “second home” is an opportunity to send retired parents to live in a warm country. But again, no one turns to the potential buyer with the appeal “Give a happy old age to your old people!” Probably, advertisers believe that this is already implied and there is no need to talk about it. Need 2. Saving money/investing
The concept of “investor” has become so worn out among foreign real estate agencies that now even buying a small studio in Sunny Beach is an investment.
Of course, real estate is an investment instrument, but if your goal is to attract a real investor to the project, then the words “Invest in stable real estate...” (hereinafter the name of the country) is clearly not enough. It is necessary to choose an advertising format in which you can talk about the attractiveness of this investment. As for the need of our “typical” buyer to save money, a message based on comparing consumer characteristics with other products in the same price category could be effective: buy a middle-class car - or a studio in Bulgaria? Six acres of land along the Ryazanskoe highway or apartments by the sea? The following message is also possible: “Don’t know what currency to keep your money in? Remember: real estate is the best currency!” Need 3. Visa freedom or potential opportunity to live in the country
In this case, it is very important to tell the client about what he can do while permanently living abroad.
It is important to talk in human language about the agency’s services for adaptation to the environment, arrangement in a new home, assistance in buying or opening a business, assistance in the accounting and tax intricacies of another country. Need 4. “Prestige”
Unfortunately, in this case too, advertisers do not go beyond the slogans “Elite, most elite, prestigious, unique villa, real estate, house,” etc. In
picture 2
you will see a dozen headlines from advertisements that were taken from one issue of the magazine. Imagine what a potential real estate buyer must think when reading the same slogans in every second ad. In advertising of foreign real estate, there are practically no such headlines that can really push you to buy a house abroad for reasons of prestige. For example: “Give your family the best”, “For the one who has everything... or almost everything”, “Friends will freeze in admiration”, “Ownership increases the pleasures of home”, “Take your life to a new level!”, “Great home, great environment”, etc.
Picture 2
Photos
The flip side of the advantage of specialized magazines - precisely hitting the target audience - is high competition among agencies in the same medium.
Plus, the reader has the opportunity to compare different advertisements. Therefore, advertisers placing advertisements in print media need to be very careful when designing the layout. The first impression and the desire to hold your gaze are caused by the main picture and the title of the advertising message. Our advertising almost never contains genre photographs showing a family in a new home. At best, this is a beautiful young couple, clearly not of Russian origin, near the pool, with a glass of wine. It is immediately obvious that the photo was taken from stock photo banks. In order to do a genre photo shoot in your complex, you need to order professional photography (you cannot find a suitable Russian family in photo banks). Do not skimp on photographs of objects - this is critically important. And not only for magazine advertising, but also for posting on the Internet. Recently, in advertising layouts, there has often been a discrepancy between the picture and the stated text. For example, one of the agencies advertises real estate in Bulgaria, using as the main image the landscape of the deserted Bounty Beach, with palm trees, white sand and a brightly highlighted message “Apartments in Bulgaria from €25 thousand.” You need to understand that such an advertising layout does not inspire confidence. The following story is very typical for Bulgarian and Cypriot real estate: a 3-D picture of a complex or villa and the caption “The house is ready for occupancy, ready-made apartments, the property has been commissioned.” The question immediately arises: why did they put up a design picture, and not a live photograph, if the complex was commissioned. As for the number of photographs in the layout, the optimal number is no more than four or five for one magazine page - one capital one, reflecting the meaning of the title, and three or four smaller ones, reflecting the meaning of the additional arguments given. Summary: It is very important to remember that the title of the message and the main image corresponding to it are what first of all attracts attention and makes you linger on the ad. Text
Once a potential buyer has paid attention to the advertisement, he should be able to easily read, understand, and preferably believe it. All this together can lead to the desired action - a person will call or go to the company’s website for further acquaintance.
Picture 3
Here is a clear example of how not to compose the text of an advertisement (see
picture 3
).
If we read it carefully, we are unlikely to be able to understand what this company does, what it offers and who it addresses. For example: “The company was created for those buyers who prefer safe trading in property...”. Perhaps this is an appeal to real estate agencies who are looking for a reliable partner in Cyprus and want to “trade safely”? Further: “According to the location and taking into account the terrain, our team... will plan, conduct construction and supervise the process of creating unique objects...”. Why "will"? Does the company design and build to order? No. I wasn’t too lazy and went to this advertiser’s website. This is a Cypriot developer that builds small residential complexes and sells them to end buyers. Can this be understood from this advertisement? Picture 4 Picture 4.
Here, on a quarter of a page, the advertiser tried to contain as much information about the object as possible. He also talked about the American Press interior doors and the double glazed windows filled with PVC, but forgot to indicate in which country this magnificent villa is being sold.
Picture 5
Picture 5
shows that brevity is not always the sister of talent. You can read an advertisement with ease, but it is very difficult to understand what the advertiser wanted to say.
Picture 6 Picture 6
shows how the right advertising “message” (I'm talking about the text in the middle of the layout) was ruined by cheap design. It is clear that there is a personal appeal to the buyer from a realtor who lives in Mallorca and seems to really be able to introduce the buyer to local social life and help with various matters. A good message: “Don’t just buy a house, but find a new home.” But pay attention to the quality of the design, which does not correspond to the declared elitism. The top picture with the small pier has nothing to do with exclusive (even the most exclusive) real estate. You look at the layout, but it doesn’t inspire confidence. And another important question: perhaps the English or Germans easily type such complex sites, but I assure you that not every Russian reader who wants to learn more about this company will get to its site the first time. It is extremely difficult to type this. I will give two more examples that call for action.
Picture 7 Picture 7
is the most concise text. The title catches the ear – “Sun Lover”... an unusual phrase. You immediately think: “Could the sun have a mistress?” and stop on the page. Advertising gives clear instructions on what to do: live, enjoy and invest at the same time. It’s not very clear where, but you can guess that in Spain. Again the same question about the pictures: it’s clearly not Spain outside the window. So, the layout seemed to catch the eye, but what the company offers is difficult to understand.
Picture 8 Picture 8
– a very tough headline “Stop dreaming! “Own”... a first-name approach, but it will have an effect on a certain category of buyers. There is a noticeable discrepancy in the advertisement: the call gives the message to own the “here and now,” but in the picture we see a 3D model and a toy man. It looks like you will have to dream for a long time to own this beautiful villa.
Picture 9
Finally, I’ll show you my own shame.
Picture 9
. This client was hosted in Homes Collection and we were unable to convince him to change the layout. The only thing I can say is that he didn’t have any calls after the ad came out.

LED light panel device
In terms of structure, DIY LED panels can be of very different designs - from simple to multi-component. In addition to the basic aluminum, plastic or glass substrate, it may include:
- Radiator.
- Reflector.
- Diffuser.
- Back panel.
The figure shows an example of such a device.
The use of this combination of additional materials is determined by the lighting performance of LEDs, including the degree of their heating during operation, and the tasks assigned to such a lighting device.
Assembly: step by step instructions
Let's look at two simpler examples of assembling an LED panel with your own hands - on a glass and aluminum base.
Making Glass LED Panel
Do-it-yourself production of a glass panel for illumination based on an LED strip is as follows:
- The ice strip is cut strictly along the cut lines into equal parts, with a length slightly less than the dimensions of the base. For example, if the side of the panel is 25 cm, then the segment should be 22-23 cm.
- Next, the prepared strip fragments are glued with the self-adhesive side onto the surface of the glass base.
- Then adjacent sections are connected by wires by soldering plus to plus and minus to minus.
- The two extreme contacts of the circuit are connected in a similar way, maintaining polarity, to the power supply and controller.
- The device is connected to the network and tested for functionality.
If the light flux needs to be diffused and soft, you will need to mount a diffuser on top. This can be a matte or transparent fragment of glass or light-transmitting plastic similar in size to the base. Its installation can be done by gluing it to a sealant lining or double-sided tape.
Recommendation! To connect the LED strip into one chain and connect to the power module, instead of soldering wires, you can use special connectors. In this case, it is necessary to ensure good access to the contacts of the strip, and it is better to make this connection before gluing the latter to the base.
Assembly of Aluminum LED Panel
Installation of the LED strip on an aluminum panel is carried out in a similar way to the method discussed above. Do-it-yourself assembly of a backlight device on this basis allows you to make a more powerful lamp. A metal alloy, unlike glass and plastic, is a material that dissipates heat well - and therefore will ideally serve as a radiator. Therefore, you can attach more powerful ice elements to it without fear that they will overheat during operation.
Should I make it myself or buy it?
There are several advantages to making your own lighting panel based on LED strip:
- Saving. Purchased models with similar lighting characteristics will cost several times more than the cost of a homemade product.
- Design and engineering implementations. With your own hands, you can make an LED panel of any shape, size and luminous intensity for specific tasks, which is not always available in a store version, and ordering from a specialist will be even more expensive.
- When using high-quality materials and properly designed equipment, such a lamp will last for decades without any accidents.
However, with all the advantages of assembling ice panels with your own hands, there are also disadvantages:
- Using low-quality, fake, cheap LED strips. Their service life quickly ends, so the device will have to be redone and repaired.
- Incorrect calculation of the power supply unit and controller.
- The heating of LEDs with sufficient luminous intensity was not taken into account. The luminosity of ice crystals quickly decreases, and some burn out completely.
- Poor quality of components.
- Unstable parameters of the electric current at the output of the transformer.
If you have experience, confidence in your abilities, as well as the availability of high-quality proven materials, you can start making your own LED panel. Otherwise, it is more profitable to order it from a professional or simply buy it from a reliable store.
Features of interactive LED panels
One of the latest developments in the field of ice technology is the interactive LED panel. Their main feature is that LED crystals are initiated by individual groups and areas in response to signals from a pressure sensor or motion and sound sensors. For example, these could be special devices on the floor. Each step of a person passing along it will not include the entire panel, but only a small section - and so on throughout the entire working length in accordance with a given program.
Important! Similarly, the LED panel can respond to light and sound sensors. Making such devices with your own hands is quite difficult. Today they can be purchased from specialized companies that offer them in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and colors.
✅ By paying once you will increase your profits forever!
The main advantage of advertising structures is that they do not require additional investments . And to increase the flow of customers you only need one effort.
Select the city closest to you:
Irkutsk — Angarsk — Krasnoyarsk — Novosibirsk
Attracting the attention of potential clients is a task for a novice businessman and for a company with a solid track record. Advertising carried out using traditional methods ceases to be effective. Only the use of new products offered by the advertising services market gives one hundred percent positive results.
Today, one of the current technologies is considered to be “live” advertising using sequins. Anyone who has taken advantage of the offer and has already ordered such live signs can share the results obtained (they can, but they won’t - competition!)

Innovative live advertising technology
What is “live” advertising? This is a new product, which is based on the production of a product, namely signs, with fascinating sequins using original technology that has received a patent. Such living signs decorated and enlivened the city with their presence. Like in a fairy tale, they attracted and enchanted hundreds of townspeople.
It is estimated that such a colorful, sparkling advertising product receives six times more attention than others. They not only convert, but concentrate and read information that needs to be conveyed to potential consumers of services and goods.
Main conclusions
To make a simple LED panel with your own hands, you will need the following consumables and tools:
- Ice strip.
- A fragment of glass, plastic or aluminum sheet.
- Transformer, controller, wiring.
- Soldering iron, connectors.
The structure of the LED panel may include a radiator, diffuser, reflector, back panel and other components, depending on the degree of complexity of its design, lighting parameters of the ice elements and their number. It can be made with your own hands only by someone who has experience in similar work, is confident in his abilities and has high-quality materials. In other cases, it is better to order it from a specialist or buy it in a store.
If you know other ways to make various modifications of LED panels with your own hands for a specific application, be sure to share such information in the comments.
Many people like various neon signs. Bright and attractive, they involuntarily attract the eye. That is why they are so often used for advertising. After all, her main task is to attract the attention of as many people as possible. And I think many would like to have something similar at home or in a corner where you spend a lot of time. But where can I get it? Order from an advertising agency? This will cost a lot of money. What if she gets bored or wants to change something about her? Will you have to spend a lot of money on changing and restoring it again? No. Today we will create such a sign with our own hands. And everyone will be able to choose an image or inscription on it to suit their taste.
Making a lightbox using LEDs with your own hands
The use of light boxes is in great demand today in the advertising industry. The high popularity is due to the fact that an illuminated sign contributes to a sharp increase in the attractiveness of a product or service among potential buyers. Today, the main advantage of lightboxes is their relatively low cost compared to other types of advertising structures and materials. They are widely used in airports, restaurants and bars, hairdressers, shopping and entertainment centers.
Lightbox is a popular type of modern advertising
A lightbox can be one-sided or two-sided, the difference between them is that on a one-sided box the image or information is printed on only one side, and on a two-sided light box - on each side. A one-sided lightbox is illuminated only from the back side of the box, while a double-sided sign has a luminous element in the center, between two advertising posters, thereby ensuring an even glow on both sides.
Such structures can be used to perform the following functions:
- advertise a product or service;
- as a branding tool - to create a bright and memorable image;
- for decorating building facades, as well as avenues and streets.
Today, lightbox is the most popular type of outdoor advertising. As a rule, its assembly is carried out in a specially equipped workshop, and installation is carried out by craftsmen with extensive experience. But knowing the materials that are used to create it and the design features, you can try to make a light box with your own hands, which will significantly reduce costs.
Some manufacturers, under the guise of innovative technologies, use solutions that are economically unjustified in production, for example, PVC reflectors - light modules with a large number of LED clusters. This design is much more expensive, but this does not affect the performance characteristics. All technological processes that make it possible to make a light box can be divided into stages.
Let's consider a lightbox of a simple and accessible design. To make a light box we will need:
- a sheet of thin acrylic glass (8-10 mm) with a minimum refractive index;
- fastening elements (screws, connecting corners);
- frame materials;
- PVC sheet for the back and side walls of the structure;
- high brightness LED strip;
- tools (saw, drill, screwdriver).
Lightbox frame design
The frame must ensure the rigidity of the structure, therefore, when making a box for LEDs with your own hands, it is better to use an aluminum or steel profile. But for a small-sized structure, a furniture board or even an ordinary board is quite suitable as a super-budget option.
Important! If the box is installed outdoors, then the main task is to ensure the resistance of the structure to various atmospheric influences.
Manufacturing of the front surface
A lightbox can be made of different materials, but only transparent materials are used to make the front panel - acrylic or silicate glass, polystyrene, transparent PVC sheet, banner fabric (for large sizes). PVC has the lowest refractive index, but its cost is the highest.
The most practical option would be acrylic glass . It is somewhat more expensive than silicate, but also much more resistant to loads and impacts. However, when creating a small box (up to 0.5 square meters in area), you can use ordinary glass with a thickness of no more than 3-4 mm.
After the material is selected, an image is applied to its surface using large-format plotters. There is another way to make an image - appliqué from vinyl films. They are prepared on a cutting plotter and glued in parts onto the front surface.
Making the back surface
To manufacture this element, the material that was used for the side surfaces is taken, except for PVC. It cannot be used to make the back wall, since light elements are placed on it: LED strips, lamps, reflectors, etc.
Light box housing
The bodies of all lightboxes, without exception, are made of PVC (polyvinyl chloride sheet). In terms of reliability/price ratio, this material is unrivaled. A sign made by yourself can be no worse than a design made in a specialized production facility, but the main component is the quality of the material. The main requirement for it is mechanical strength, resistance to atmospheric and external influences, light resistance, and protection of the internal contents of the box.
Installing the backlight
To illuminate the box, LED strip or LED modules are used. With the advent of inexpensive compact strips of increased brightness, the use of LED modules has become economically unprofitable. To ensure uniform luminous illumination, the LED strip is mounted along the inner perimeter of the box in one or two rows. Also, LED backlighting is very convenient when making three-dimensional letters.
The inside of the box itself must be made of materials with a sufficiently high reflective coefficient. For these purposes, you can consider using white self-adhesive film or ordinary white glossy paint.
An illuminated advertising box is an excellent solution for creating bright, and most importantly, effective advertising. The right approach to promoting any business would be to use a lightbox design - an inexpensive and simple solution.

Glass preparation
Any plexiglass will suit us. In our case, this is a piece of translucent glass. You need to cut a 19x5" piece out of it. After this, you need to sand the edges with sandpaper.
The LEDs will be attached to the glass using hot glue, so the reverse side should also be treated with coarser sandpaper. Otherwise, the glue will not stick firmly enough to the smooth, glossy surface.
Print an image
An image of our size easily fits on two A4 sheets. You can split an image in any graphics editor. In our case, this is the word ARDUINO. The highlighted areas should be light. That's why we print white letters on a black background. It is also worth noting that you should not use thick paper for printing. Since light will not pass through it sufficiently. Regular carbon paper will do.
Benefits of a shiny living sequin sign
Ordering signs for boutiques, the price of which is quite affordable, is offered to everyone who can calculate the situation “two steps” ahead. Money invested in such products pays off very quickly because:
- They have bright, rich colors;
- Absolutely original texture;
- Gold flakes provide movement and dynamics of the image;
- Signs do not require electricity;
- They do not require large surfaces for placement.
Cost-effective “living” signs eliminate electricity costs. They come to life from a barely perceptible breath of wind. The picture created from multi-colored sequin scales begins to shimmer with a scattering of sparkles and flowers. You can order interior signs for commercial enterprises and thereby revive the trading process.
In order for advertising of a store, restaurant, shopping and entertainment center or any other establishment to be visible from afar, it is necessary to use an advertising banner of substantial size. In large cities there is not always room for such a design, and its bulky dimensions will not surprise anyone.
Then, like living signs with sequins , they don’t take up much space and are visible from afar. Their dynamic properties simply hypnotize citizens and guests of the city. First, everyone is attracted by the original movement, then the shape and color come into view, and then the content is read. Therefore, it is promising to promote your services or products using such an advertising product.
Small scales are fixed in such a way that their outer part creates reflection, shimmer and shine. Such “live” products are used with equal success for indoor and outdoor advertising. Attracting the attention of a large number of people, they fully justify the investment in manufacturing and installation.
Living signs with sequins make an enterprise or company presentable, increase its status and guarantee success. These little fireflies intrigue, attract the eye and work great miracles. Business with them is gaining popularity!

OUR PROJECTS - “VIDEO PRESENTATIONS”
Installation of LEDs
We use hot glue to attach the LEDs to the back of the plexiglass. It is better to set the temperature of the gun not too high, so that the glue hardens faster and the LEDs do not “drip.” It is also worth remembering that the wires from the LEDs are not very long. Therefore, it is worth considering where to make the transition from letter to letter. Otherwise you will have to solder the wires. Another point is the shape of the top of the LED. If you purchased round ones, it is better to grind off the top and make it flat. It will be much easier to glue.
Rule ten. We check the layouts at arm's length.
To test the effect of advertising on yourself, you must create a layout, adhering to the above rules. Then print it on your printer in the form of a business card. Take the image in your hand and stretch it out as far as possible.
Analyze and draw conclusions by answering the following questions:
- Can you see all the inscriptions and details of the pictures?
- Can you read phone numbers and other contact information?
- Does the background blend into the text?
- Can you manage to read the inscriptions in 5-6 seconds while moving?
If you answered all the questions and were satisfied, then you did a great job. If you notice any shortcomings, you have to correct the created layout so as not to waste your advertising budget.
Hello, let's start in order, you have created a business, the first steps are to provide information about yourself on the Internet, then the production of outdoor advertising (the most popular pillars and signs, signs), in order to save on the budget, we will consider the option of doing it yourself (free advertising, conditionally, of course :))) )), need or how to make outdoor advertising. let's divide all this into several points
1. create a layout (requires graphic editors such as Illustrator Coral or Photoshop). Otherwise, you will have to negotiate with a freelance designer; the company may charge you more, the price of the issue is from 500 rubles. For a simple layout you can try it cheaper. It is very important to take into account here * to attract attention and not overload with information. on the street, a person sees an advertisement on average for no more than 3 seconds, then it’s unnecessary, few people look at large-format “newspapers”, the money is wasted. It is important to describe the product or service in 2-3 words, you can add fluorescent film (for brightness, it attracts attention, checked), an image and a little description in small print - this is for interested potential clients. And so the layout is there, let's move on to the next point.
